Comprehensive CV
Robert's interdisciplinary research focuses on sedimentology, coastal engineering, and oceanography. It applies diverse methodologies ranging from field surveys and laboratory analysis to analytical and numerical modeling. Robert is particularly interested in the physical environment's response to extreme high-energy events, such as tsunamis, oceanic meteorite impacts, and storms. That response is usually the generation of a sediment deposit. A better understanding of how sediment deposits are formed not only increases our understanding of the Earth's history, but also applies to problems in the basic and applied sciences. The following list is a summary of Robert's fields of research:
  • Sediment studies
  • Oceanic meteorite impacts and landslides
  • Tsunami wave propagation and inundation
